Day three- Sunday
As I learned last year, this is the day when everything goes!
And people, what better way to start the day than having a photo taken with Jared and Jensen? (I know, I know, I can think of a handful of better ways to start the day too, but they’re both kind of happily married *g*)
So, photo ops. Clearly this year, they decided to sell way more pictures than there was time to take them. Which was why you had at least three people reminding you that there would be no personalization of pictures before you could even get a glimpse of the actors (and why my photo op with Jensen on Saturday was such a non-event. And a shame that it was so, because I was totally going to ask him to do a yoga pose).
Even so, we had carried the glasses all the way from Portugal and, as soon as we were inside the photo op room, my brother and me had ours on (we had two different sets of glasses: two that were kind of Harry Potter-ish and with nothing but big, clear lenses; and two other that had bottle-bottom lenses that kind of hurt the eyes. Obviously, we took the painful ones for ourselves and lemme tell you, you cannot see a damn thing with those things on, so I didn’t even noticed Jensen and Jared were dressed like twins until later). We were gonna take that picture looking like geeks, even if Jared and Jensen weren’t allowed to.
Fortunately, the people from the organization looked at our goofy looks, saw the two extra pairs of glasses in my hand and quickly realized what the idea was and gave us permission to do it. Which was sweet, but pointless, because I had barely managed to mumble a ‘could you please wear this?’ before Jared had already taken the glasses from my hand and laughed at them as he put his on.
So, that was a cool and funny photo op, both for my brother and me as well as (dare I say) for Jared and Jensen as well.
After that, we had Jim’ panel (the poor guy was always stuck with the really early panels, for some reason. Though, I was happy to see that, despite the fact that there was a Jared and Jensen photo op going on at the same time and it was 10 am on the last day of the convention, there were a lot of people in the room)
Took advantage of Jason’s panel to do the hotel check out (I know, shame on me) but we were back in time to catch the end of it, when Jensen showed up to take his turn. For one tiny, half of a moment time there, I think we all stopped breathing, waiting for a guitar to pop out of no where and have those two sing for us. Didn’t happened though :(
Apparently, though, Jensen falls asleep when Jason is talking about boring stuff, like his music *g*
I managed to grab a couple of videos from this panel, namely the one where Jensen explains the beer scene from the previous day, talks Japanese with the help of a Japanese fan, avoids answering which member of the cast he would like to date and talks about almost being named Holly. You’ve heard that story yet?
So, apparently, Jensen’s parents had been told he was a girl up until the moment he was born and well, when he did... evidence spoke louder. So, he wasn’t named for three days because his parents had to come up with a boy’s name that they liked.
Of course, when Misha was told about this, he asked Jensen how long did it take his parents to figure out he was actually a boy, to which Jensen answered straight faced ‘his teens’ *g*
But more on their panel later.
One surprising thing that happened in this panel was when someone asked about season 8 and the conversation eventually evolved to Jensen asking if we would like to see Castiel back in season 8. I think he was expecting a huge raw of ‘Hell, yes!’, but there was actually a big part of the audience that said ‘no’. So, there you have it. From the small sample of audience (and by small I mean over 300 people from all across the world), Castiel’s return isn’t that much of a big deal.
After Jensen’s panel they announced which lucky fan had managed to guess the number of marbles inside the jar and have his/hers photo op with all the actors. Sadly, neither my brother nor me came even close.
Rob’s last panel of the convention was a hug festival. Really, I kid you not, most people lining up at the mics didn’t even had a question, other than ‘can I have a hug?’. At least one was original and showed up with a ‘free hugs’ sign.
After that, we walked all the way to the airport (which, trust me, after three days basically closed inside a hotel, feels VERY good) to have lunch with the lovely amber1960 and chill out for a little bit.
The end was coming near, but they had saved the best panels for Sunday afternoon.
First one was a bit of a premiere, joining Jared and Misha on the same stage (last year Jared had left on Saturday). I dare say that we’ll be seeing this sort of panel again, because those two are very funny on stage together :))
The switch around in seats that you see in the photos? Well, that was because someone asked them to do a proper hug between Sam and Cass, which they, obviously, saw as the perfect chance to re-enact an even more awkward non-hug between Sam and Cass. They ‘danced’ around each other so much that they ended switching seats.
I have one small video, of when someone asked about pranks on set, and Jared said that the last one he’d been a ‘victim’ of, had been on Jensen’s hands, in the episode he’d directed this year. You can see it here:
Next up were Jim and Brock, or as Jim had labeled it ‘the obvious pair for a panel’ because they’d only met for like 24 hours *g*
Brock told us about his worst experience at a convention and people, lemme tell you, his was REALLY an awful experience. It happened at his first ever convention and the organization people actually forgot to pick him up at the airport, so, with no idea where the convention was and with less than a hour until his panel, the poor guy had to get himself there and almost jump directly from the cab he’d taken to the stage. Richard, I think, saw how spooked he was and decided that he needed a shot of whiskey before doing anything *g* Apparently, it worked.
Following Jim and Brock we had a crowded stage with Richard, Mark and Sebastian, or we called it ‘the heavy angel panel’. They decided to have a scream contest to see who the favorite angel was. Lucifer won... by a large percentage (I think Sebastian was a little bit disappointed by that).
Misha and Jensen, backstage, decided to screw with the ‘angels’ on stage. The shadow of ‘someone’s’ hand (no way to tell which was Jensen’s and which was Misha’s) was squeezing Richard’s nipples and punching him in the groin, while another hand was messing with Sebastian.
After Jensen and Misha finally came on stage to take their place and the next and final panel, Richard, Sebastian and Mark decided that it was payback time and did the same shadows trick with them. There were some might attempts to squash Misha’s head and a face-shaped hand that Jensen mocked-kissed, Betty Boop style *g*
Jensen and Misha’s panel was one of the most fun events of the whole convention. Those two are natural at stand up comedy and feeding off each other to goof around, much like Jensen and Jared. The thing that sets those two pairs apart, though (and this is merely my impression) is that Jensen and Jared are too intimate with each other (and get your mind out of the gutter, I don’t mean it like that). It’s more like... you know when you have a really good friend, a brother/sister from another set of parents, someone who you know his/hers life story almost as well as your own? You end up being very protective of what you talk or don’t talk about that person because you know how talking about this or that will affect them. Jared and Jensen come across very much like that in their joint panels.
Jensen and Misha, while I don’t doubt that they get along really, really well and are good friends, they don’t fell as protective of one another and their comments seem to flow more... easily.
Jensen cracked completely when a fan shared Misha’s early resume with the rest of us. And I mean falling-to-his-knees-laughing cracked up! There were tears in both those guys eyes, they were laughing so hard.
In their defense, Misha’s resume was pretty ridiculous *g*, featuring such gems as ‘bicycle touring’ (which was about the same as saying he could ride a bike), ‘Tibetan throat singing’ (which he managed to pull off quite impressively) and ‘ acting on camera’ (which sent Jensen to the floor).
The previous day, someone had asked Jensen about some singing that he had done during his ‘Days of our lives’ time, something that Jensen had no recollection of doing. So, on Sunday, someone had actually dug up the sound clip and played it for him. We all heard it, and yeah, it sounded a lot like Jensen even though he denied it (between just us here, I would’ve denied it too. It wasn’t the best of his singing, with some pretty big flubbed notes in between *g*)
The end was almost upon us, but the energy inside that room was as high as ever. When it was time to call all guests back on stage for the final farewell, the room just exploded in a huge cheer and applause :))
So, one more year of JIB done...
Once more, it was a wonderful experience, filled with tons of fun and the sense of a shared experience with hundreds of fans.
