We started the day with a lovely breakfast, quickly followed by Jim Beaver, who had apparently slept in and missed his alarm clock going off.
Jim came in rocking the whole European look with the same French-y hat that he had on for the cocktail party the night before, something that he quickly exchanged for a more familiar cap *g*.
This was the first time I had seen Jim on the stage. He proved to be quite charming and entertaining.
Next, we had Mark and Pedro Something Something Chorizo *g*, Sebastian’s Spanish alter ego who is a matador on his free time and who, apparently, has a fake mustache.
Sebastian had started something a wee bit annoying in the previous day. Every time he said ‘tight leotard’ everyone had to scream. So, first thing he does as soon as Jim left the stage was yell ‘tight leotard’, followed by the appropriate answer from the audience. It was worth it just to see Mark’s confused face at what the hell was going on *g*.
Again, the most amusing part for them seemed to be dragging nervous fans to the stage and embarrass the hell out of them (not in a bad way, just in the sense that they were facing a room with thousands of flashing cameras).
Midway through Sebastian’s and Mark’s panel, you could already tell that Jensen and Jared would be on next. While none of the panels was deserted or in lack of attendance, when it was anywhere near time to have those two on stage, the room was simply over crowded. I mean... packed to the roof!
Jensen and Jared made their entrance carrying a football ball that would be signed by the two of them plus Jim, a part of a set of sports balls that were later auctioned to give money to Doctors Without Borders.
Besides the sports balls, there was a game going on at the convention. Each guest on stage would place a handful of marbles inside a huge, glass jar. At the end, whomever guessed the number of marbles inside the jar, would win a photo op with all the guests. Now, I have a game for you... can you imagine the amount of jokes we heard about ‘dipping balls’ and ‘losing the marbles’ throughout the whole weekend?
If your guess was in between 1 and 100, you've WON!!!
We had a small break after that, to try and get some of the autographs in and then it was time for Rob Benedict and Richard.
As you may have noticed, I’m not going to dwell much on the content of each panel (I’m sure that by now, most of them are online. I did shot a few videos, as you've been seeing in the middle of these reports).
After lunch, we did a long break and decide to skip Brock’s panel. The guy is a sweetie and I wish him the best in his career, but I couldn’t muster enough enthusiasm to go watch him on stage. My loss, I guess, because I heard later that Jensen had dropped by to give ‘young Dean’ a hand with his panel, which, you know... is kind of buckets of sweet.
So, after lunch, and a break, and a few games of Foosball I had my photo op with Jensen, which was so fast and uneventful that I almost forgot to mention it, but I'm posting here anyway, because even though I look like crap, the guy looks too yummy not to share :D
After that, we went back to catch Jensen’s afternoon panel. He confessed that they had been partying with Sebastian the night before and he was still waiting for jet lag to hit him hard. Man... I wish I could look like that when I'm tired and/or jet lagged...
Near the end of his panel, Misha decided to mess with him and pose a question to Jensen, which, honestly, I no longer remember which was *g* because the funny part came after that, when it was Misha’s turn on stage. Jensen was still there, drinking water and signing a shirt. The previous day, someone had asked Misha which character he would like to play other than Castiel, and he had said Dean. Not only play Dean, but he was of an opinion that the role of Dean should be recast, with him replacing Jensen. According to Misha, the people watching would barely notice the difference because he and Jensen are so alike.
So, while Jensen was on stage, a fan decided to point that out. Hilarity followed, because Jensen was standing behind Misha, making faces of absolute horror and disbelief over Misha being like him or even being able to play Dean. And each time Misha looked back at him, Jensen would look as innocent as he could, with the fakest of smiles on *g*. I really hope someone caught that on video, because it was really, really funny.
Finally, Misha had to kick Jensen out of the stage or nothing would get done.
Jared followed Misha’s panel, with a costume... of sorts. He had grabbed the shirt Jensen had signed and the stuffed doll he had carried off stage and decided to ask Misha a question while dressed as a... young pharaoh father?
Anyway, once more, can’t remember the question, because the really funny part came after. Apparently, (and this was already late afternoon) Jared had figured back stage that it was time for a beer. So he had ordered one but it never came in time before he was on stage. When the beer finally arrived, Jensen and all the others decided to ‘serve’ Jared instead of having the hotel guy go on stage to give it to him (I have a video of Jensen explaining this on Sunday).
So, out of nowhere, we see Jensen, Richard, Rob, Brock and Mark storm into the stage, all carrying white towels (waiter style), wipe clean the table where the guests’ water bottles and glasses were, get a chair and serve Jared’s beer with the greatest aplomb and circumstance. Misha, of course, joined in on the fun. It was ROFL!
And Jared’s was the last panel of the day. Later, there was the Jason concert, but we were so tired of eating crappy food at the airport (the Hilton airport is really in the middle of nowhere. Other than the airport itself, there’s not many places to eat, except the hotel itself) that we decided to go to Rome for dinner.
Funny thing? We ended up eating crappy food all the same, because the place we picked had a cook who clearly loved salt, so that was THE most salted food I ever ate. EVER.
But... on the way there... :D
And do keep in mind that Rome is a VERY big city, so it's not like you can run into people by chance unless there's a LOT of chance involved... so imagine our surprise as we go to cross the street and right in front of us are Sebastian, Jared, Rob and a couple other men who I didn’t recognize (didn’t look like security people though). So, apparently, Sebastian was playing the tour guide again, and they walked just by us on their way to (as I later found out from the pictures they posted) another night of partying and drinking *g*
And that was it for Saturday!
